Let's just say an author knows the key to my heart is a little emotion. In this article: about the cost of war on woman specifically those in Mississippi, there's an abundance of heart felt wording. Lockhart, author of this article discusses this sensitive subject with soft wording tone and heart-felt phrases. Her purpose is to make the awareness of the cost of war. Is physical and emotional effects. In efforts of pertaining to this subject she references he woman of Mississippi's perspective.
While first reading I I thought the target audience was anybody interested in the subject and of a mature age. Toward the end, it began to feel a lot more like to tell the Mississippi that she wants to share. It comes across like more of a "I'm here for you to tell other" as if the author was there helping hand. This display changed the intention from awareness to listening and reporting. Along the article you notice a sense of immediate attention. The author begins to incorporate logic and an appeal to logos. She provides statistics on the different centers available. The author begins to almost shout this information out creating that urgency. Along with everything else theres added commentary from the woman themselves. The author gives the woman there chance to share how they feel and get their own word out. Multiple sources address their feelings and emotions. Indirectly the author appeals to pathos by making the readers feel for each woman in their commentary. The author didn't have to think of meaningful, sympathetical text because the sources did it themselves. Lockhart simply inserted the quotes creating such a powerful effect to the piece. All in all, I felt like Lockhart was there to put all the woman into one big problem, but we truest got to hear directly from them.
